Blacksmiths House – TUD15

Pre-Painting

The buildings have been designed to allow for easy pre-painting of the components.

If you want to paint the inside of each level, you may prefer to do so before gluing the walls to the floor.

The outside walls of each level can be painted after they are glued to each floor but before the decorative beams are attached.

The floor support beams and decorative beams can be painted before they are glued to each level.

Sprues

Please note that some sprues or parts may vary slightly.

Ground Floor

Build the ground floor walls and doorway panels as shown.

Arrange the stone effect foundations lining the door cutouts as below. The bits with the door step cut outs are quite thin so take care before they are glued on.

The stone effect components fix to the walls with the slot aligning with the door step.

The rest of the foundation attaches as below.

Attach the long rear decorative beams as below.

Then add the front beams and small lintel spacer.

The lintel spacer attaches over the door.

Add the decorative beams to the end wall.

Then add the side door decorative beams and small lintel spacer.

The two doors use the following components.

Glue the door handles to the doors.

To install the door, locate the pivot point on the bottom of the door in the hole of the floor. Then locate the lintel hole on the top of the door. You can then push the door lintel into the wall notches.

Push the lintel unitl it sits flush with the wall.

Repeat for the other door.

There is a decorative trim that can be glued around the door frames as below.

First Floor

Attach the walls to the first floor. Note that the two end walls will only attach one way.

The front and rear decorative beams are the same. Attach one to each side.

Then attach the side decorative beams.

Note that the two smaller end decorative beams components are slightly different. Ensure the notches of the decorative beams align with the notches on the underneath of the first floor.

Sort out the longer beams (A) and fix those the underneath of the floor first.

Then select the seven shorter first floor beams (B). Note that these will only align in one particular direction.

Roof

Attach the gable support to the roof base.

Then attach the two gable ends.

The roof can be dry fitted to make sure the ends are square.

Once the gable ends are secure, the roof can be removed.

Attach the seven roof beams with the pointed tips first.

Then glue the long roof beams.

Next add the gable end decorative beams.

This building has an “Eyebrow Dormer Window”, a slight variation on the dormer windows on other buildings, but basically the same construction process.

Glue the triangle support to the rectangular base and the spacer.

Then attach the two triangular sides.

Fix the dormer frame to the window panel.

Glue the dormer section to the roof panel.

Select the dormer roof components.

Attach the two triangular roof sections at the ridge and then add the two end “L” shape edges to ensure it keeps a 90 degree shape.

Attach the decorative beams to the dormer. This needs to be aligned with the dormer structure.

The dormer roof can then be glued on. Use a good dollop of glue on the edge of the dormer structure to attach the roof.

The two roof panels can be glued to the roof base.

Attach the roof edges to teach end of the roof.

Extra Crate

When getting this model sprued, there was a bit of space left over. Rather than just leave it blank, I have added an extra crate.

This crate is just a simple cube. Just arrange the bits as below.

Then build up the cube!

Easy!

Perfect for models to hide behind.
