Cavalry Plinth – STP04

Sprues

Please note that some sprues or parts may vary slightly.

Statue Base

Start with the base “1”, the base walls and the base level “2” below.

Glue the decorative raised panels to the base walls. Take care to keep the decorative panels straight.

When the decorative panels have dried in place, the base walls can be glued to the base “1”.

Glued bases “1” and “2” to the base walls.

Select the second level walls, the “engraved” inserts

Glue the second level walls together.

…and attach the base “5” to the bottom.

Insert the “engraved” panels inside the second level walls.

Add base “6” to the top.

Add level “4” to the underneath of the second level wall section, followed by the large base “3”.

The whole second level can now be glued to the main base.

Add base levels “7” and “8” to the top of the plinth.

The final level does not have any locating tabs, so take care when glueing in place.

Adding A Model

If you want to add a model and pin the feet or base, you may want to not attach the top level until the holes have been drilled.

What I did with this 3D printed resin knight, I drilled the feet of the horse and added small pins.

I then carefully positioned the horse and marked where holes would need to be drilled.

Then the top level can be glued in place and the horse added.

Adding Texture

You may want to take this to the next level by adding some texture to the plinth.

I put some filler into a small tub and added a few drops of water and mixed it well.

Using an old paintbrush, the watered down filler mixture was dabbed on on to the plinth.

I avoided the recessed areas as they should look fine with just a bit of paint.

I let it dry overnight before painting it black and applying a grey drybrush.

If you want to get a good bronze effect on a statue, I recommend this excellent YouTube video from Uncle Atom of Tabletop Minions fame.
